Department of Public Health Dentistry

The department of public health dentistry aims to improve the oral health of the population through preventive and curative services, it also aims to train the under graduate students of 3^rd and 4^th BDS year and post graduates in the speciality of Public Health Dentistry.

The department library is equipped with the sufficient books and journals prescribed by the DCI, the total number of books available in the department library are 11 titles and 14 books. The department has internet facilities for staffs and students (broad band internet).

DEPARTMENT FACILITIES:

ACTIVITIES

The department organizes, improves, implement and monitor the departmental activities on regular basis.
The department staffs engage in theory classes for under graduate students and clinical discussion of patients.
The department also assess, monitor, motivate and reinforces them to improve their grades.
For the 3^rd BDS students topics will be given to read write and the same will be discussed by individual staff. For 4^th BDS students there will be quota including case history, indices and demonstration of preventive procedures. Three years training of post graduates in the speciality is alsa conducted by the department.
The department also conduct the regular theory and practical internal examinations and demonstration on patients to improve clinical skill of students.
Formative and summative assessment will be done for each batch.

SERVICES PROVIDED

The college has established 2 health centers, these centers treats patients for routine oral diseases and the patients will be referred to college for further comprehensive treatments if required.
The interns and post graduate students are posted on regular basis along with the one staff.
The department regularly conducts dental camps on regular basis and the patients will be referred to the college for advanced treatments, the patients will be given basic treatments at the camp site with the help of the mobile dental van and portable dental chairs.
Comprehensive Dental Treatments including Oral Prophylaxis, Preventive procedures, Restorations, Root Canal Treatments and Extractions are regularly performed by the post graduates and interns
The department organizes outreach programmes such as dental screening and treatment camps, cancer screening camps and oral health awareness programmes, awareness campaigns such as world AIDS day, street plays, rallies, world no tobacco day, oral hygiene day and also organizes blood donation camps
